Elaine Vassmer
Music Director
Using Psalm 150 as her theme for Barbee’s music, Elaine Vassmer comes with a BME (music education) degree from UCM. Married to Jim, they are parents of 2 sons and grandparents of 2 granddaughters. Elaine is busy as an educator of gifted students, part-time babysitter of the little girls and music director of Barbee’s choirs. If you love music, Barbee has a place for you!

Carol Spencer
Administrative Assistant
Carol Spencer has been our administrative assistant since October 2014. She came to us after retiring from the Excelsior Springs School District where she worked in the District Office. Carol has been a member of Barbee since May 2005 and has served as a deacon, an elder, the past moderator of the Small Groups ministry team, and the past treasurer of the JOY Women’s Ministry team. She has been the moderator of the Noah’s Ark Christian Preschool Ministry team for the past nine years. When the Preschool Director resigned in 2014, Carol volunteered to take on the position of Administrative Director. She also handles the all of the financial duties for the Preschool. She has been married to her husband, Bill, for 50 years and they have two grown children and five grandchildren. For those that know Carol, know that she is a devoted Texas Longhorn football fan. Carol considers anything she does for the church or the preschool an honor because it is ALL God’s work.
Rita May
Nursery Attendant
Rita May has been our Nursery Attendant at Barbee Memorial for 3 years and she loves children!
Rita is a retired RN. She attended Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg KS. She has 2 grown children; Katy, age 28, and Anthony, age 25. Rita has been married to Mark May for over 37 years. She enjoys crocheting, reading, and volunteering at the Salvation Army during their Harvesters food drive.
